KEN LANHER
Last week we brought back an old Rotary tradition of having new members give a talk about their lives, occupations, and connection with Rotary. Our speaker was one of our newest members, Ken Lahner, CPA, who joined the Club last year. Ken was raised in Flourtown, went to Drexel for undergrad work in accounting, then earned a MBA . He worked for several firms before realizing that what he really wanted , was to run his own company. He has ben involved in developing and improving business practices of small companies , improving their accounting literacy by
teaching basic bookkeeping skills, how to do a payroll, and work their way through tax environments. This type of service has been an important part of his professional career for over 25 years. He has also been doing taxes for over 20 years although he had always promised himself that he would never do taxes.
Ken loves gardening , and each May he distributes his large harvest of tomatoes, this in the memory of his wife who passed in 2023 from a chronic illness. Ask him for a few tomatoes.
Ken brought brochures on two subjects for those in attendance: A financial check list for planning financial futures, and another on identity theft. He also spoke briefly on the benefits of the new Trump Accounts which give parents a solid way to put money aside for their children's future.
He met Mark and Alan at one of the East Norton events the we were present at, and liked what he saw: a chance to get involved in community volunteering.
Thank You Ken for sharing your experiences.
You can reach him at: www.Your Best Tax Guy.com which is ironic given his initial distaste for doing taxes.
