We were visited today by Canine Partners for Life. This non-profit located in Concordville Pa trains service dogs. Dogs take minimally 2 years to train until they are old enough to adopt. And while most dogs learn basic skills like walking with you all the way to pushing an elevator button or opening a cabinet. They are taught not to automatically pickup something small so that they don't accidentally ingest someone's medication. Some dogs are capable and learn advanced skills. Depending on the alertness the dog demonstrates, they learn very advanced skills and can warn an owner if sugar levels are dangerous simply by taste, visually alert dogs can detect an epileptic seizure. Here Suzanne Geouque stands with her dog Morgan.
