Despite the rain and wind, and thanks to YOU, our donors, we collected 73 bicycles and 6 sewing machines on Saturday. These are headed to Guatemala courtesy of our partner 'Pedals for Progress' where they will become family transportation and job creators, as opposed to going into our landfills. We collect bicycles and machines year round and wind up the collection once a year sending them off. With these bikes people can travel 10 miles to a job or 6 miles to a local community school. On collection day, bikes are inspected for completeness, and then made compact for shipping (removing pedals, dropping the seat, lowering and turning handlebars down and turning the handlebars 90 degrees so it's inline with the wheel).
This year we collected at the West Norriton Township building on September 25th.
