Last Thursday we learned a lot about and organization that is giving lifesaving aid to children in Kenya ,who are at great risk. PATRICE RICHE from CHARIOTS for HOPE , gave an enlightening talk on the volunteer work that she has been involved in for the past several years. Pat has worked for the organization for over 10 tears and has visited and worked with kids in the eight orphanages that the group funds and administers in Kenya.
The goal of Chariots For Hope in Kenya is to help as many highly vulnerable and orphaned children as possible by providing a loving and caring environment where none exists in the kid's lives. Although not all of CFH children are technically orphaned, all have been abandon in some form, whether it's parents who simply can not afford to continue raising kids or simply do not want them. Chariots accepts them and , through the sponsors system they have , gives assistance in the areas of 3 meals a day, spiritual guidance, medical attention, social and emotional care, educational safe living place, and clothing. The individual sponsors are responsible financially for supporting kids that they have "adopted". Patrice has two kids that she supports with a donation of about $50/ month.
Education in Kenya is not considered very good but the schooling at CFH puts them in a very favorable position whit many success in higher education, some of which are in the U.S. When kids enter that program at later stages of life, there is often need for remedial education to help them catch up. They serve over 450 kids at any given time and rescue 64 new ones per month. To show the size of the problem, there are over 3.6 million orphaned or vulnerable kids in Kenya.
Chariots for Hope is located in Dresher Pa. and you can contact them for information or to donate at:
