ROTARY 7430 DISTRICT GOVERNOR DIANE DONAHER Last Thursday, our club was visited by Rotary District 7430 Governor DIANE DONAHER and AREA 9 Assistant Governor CLINT EHLERS. Governor Donaher spoke to us first about the history of women in Rotary, after a slow start in accepting women to the present condition where the present and next Rotary International presidents will be women. Diane has been involved with Rotary sine childhood where her family was active in Rotary and she became more and more her local Rotary Club. She highlighted this year's theme- CREATE HOPE IN THE WORLD, and the themes creation by RI President , R Gordon Mclnally, with an added emphasis on mental health. Diane has taken this theme and added to it with the theme of our district with her BEACON OF HOPE campaign, which lays out steps we can create hope in others. What our club has done in this regard was highlighted: shelter Box, Peddles for Progress, Dictionary Project, and the many local organizations we have supported in the past through fundraisers. Governor Diane pointed out 4 areas that need attention in order for a club to succeed. They are 1. Membership- we are doing a fairly good job in this area thanks to Mark Call and his committee, 2. Public Image, where we also are in great shape, 3. Rotary Foundation where Jim Nutt keeps us in top standing, 4. POLIO eradication support. The Governor recognized two of our members for her special Beacon of Hope Award; JUDY BUCKO and MARK CALL for their contributions to the club and Rotary. She gave us stickers promoting her Beacon of Hope program. That you Governor Diane for your informative visit to our club. Governor Diane Donaher honors MARK CALL with her BEACON of HOPE award. Also honored was JUDY BUCKO Club President MARY ONAMA welcomes District Governor DIANE DONAHER and Area 9 Governor CLINT EHLERS
