Sole Harvest 5K Run. October 8th
Norristown Hospitality Center needs 3-5 people cheering at a designated spot on our race course. We love to have 7-8
Course cheering stations. We have noise makers, cow bells and more to help your group stand out with sound and props.
Your team would be required to be there 10/8 at 8 AM to register with me, Karen Messics, at the volunteer table.
There is a bonus for a free Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich to all that volunteer.

ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
PANCAKE BREAKFAST - AUCTION / RAFFLE is in the final stages of preparation and we will need everyone's participation. Below is a link for you to sign-up for helping out in the various areas that need staffing. Please add your name to one or more areas .
Below is a copy of the flyer andposrcard that you can print and distribute to individuals and businesses you frequent. I will send out copies the the letters requesting donations for the AUCTION/RAFFLE next week. Ask business and friends if they would like to donate a gift basket for the auction/raffle.
This week we were joined by LeeAnn Rooney (Exec Dir) and Joe Maccolini (Asst Dir) from the Patrician Society of Norristown. The Patrician Society was established in 1981 and has served the Norristown community, primarily through supporting donations. The Society has two major programs;
“The Emergency Food Cupboard” and H.U.M.A.N. “Housing Utilities Miscellaneous Aid for Neighbors” program.
The Food Cupboard provides food for those needing help feeding their families. The program has about 1500 families registered and they serve 120 families everyday, the heaviest being the day before Thanksgiving. A large donor source is produce from Philabundance and items from Montgomery County’s Anti-Hunger Network. One of the more needed foods on their list is breakfast cereal. The H.U.M.A.N provides qualified help to those having trouble securing housing and utilities and medical aid. The housing program had a budget of $120k this year which is pretty much exhausted. The Society is open Mon -Thurs 8:30a-4:30p, and Friday 8:30a--12p. Rotary is proud to announce The Patrician Society as the major beneficiary of proceeds from our fundraiser Pancake Breakfast next month, Oct 29th
Past President Dave Shoemaker visited Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy this week. Teacher ( and NAHS football coach ) Joe Milligan and his class gave Dave a demonstration of their new robotics gear. This acquisition was funded by a Rotary grant which Dave had written when he served as Club President. The matching grant was jointly funded by the Rotary Club of Norristown and Rotary District 7430. Here in the lab, students are learning about Virtual reality and practical life applications.

President Sunanda has officially kicked off the 'Each One, Bring One' member campaign.
Rotary Clubs need to continue to grow in order to enhance our ability to dedicate resources to solving a community or global issue.
This year, President Sunanda is asking every Club member to bring a visitor, spouse, family, friend or acquaintance to our meeting and introduce them to Rotary.
If everyone brought a guest it would double our meeting size, and if half of the visitors discovered Rotary and became a member, the club would grow by 50%.
Please think about it this week and identify someone you would like to introduce to Rotary. Bring them to a meeting and tell them why you joined.
Is some of your expected gmail missing from the Inbox?
Aside from regular spam filtering, sometimes Google also takes a guess at your incoming gmail and pre-categorizes it in order to cut down on spam. The Tabs 'Social' and 'Promotions' capture some of your email instead. Well, Google doesn't always get it right.
Fortunately, even though that is the default setting, you can change the setting and control your pre-categorization completely and get all your mail back in the old inbox. YOU can select select the problem email in 'Promotions' and drag it to the inbox, OR.... A more reliable way is to control your own categories or simply have none at all. If you uncheck the 'Social" and 'Promotions' categories in settings, your future email will not appear in those virtual folders but rather in your old inbox as expected.
Here's what you do to fix it. Go to your inbox settings link. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/inbox Uncheck the boxes 'Social' and 'Promotions', AND CLICK SAVE From now on it will appear in the old inbox as expected.
