RYAN ROSENBAUM - MONTCO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Last Thursday, the Club welcomed RYAN ROSENBAUM of the MONTGOMERY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE as our guest speaker. Ryan gave an entertaining and informative talk on the history, present, and future activities of the Chamber, and told us of his experiences, especially in his field of interest, dealing with non-profits. Ryan has been with the Chamber for the last 5 years after working in several non-profit organizations throughout his carrier. He will be leaving the Chamber next week for a new position. He spoke about how Chambers of Commerce work to promote the business environment of a community and detailed for us, his non-profit involvement. These groups represent a significant portion of the working public with 1.75 million organizations in the U.S. employing 11.4 million people. Therevare 65,000 non-profits in Pennsylvania. He briefly outlined how to start a non-profit and how to avoid some common pitfalls and legal problems. Ryan also recommended that we examine a non-profit's financial statements to see what percentage of funds actually go to their stated goals. Thank-you, Ryan, and good luck in your new job.
