Rotaract Fleamarket

Note: We received this request from Jane Pekol regarding the Rotaract Flea Market Project.  Can you help?
--
We're a go for our Flea Market and Fall Fest, for October 12, 11AM-5PM.

I am wondering whether Rotarians might have some flea market items to donate? Could you guys announce this at the next meeting? Donations can be accepted at the Friends Meetinghouse (20 Jacoby Street in Norristown) on the next two Sundays, 11 AM - 1 PM.

We're accepting: Housewares, tools, kitchen items, appliances, toys, furniture, bikes, accessories, home decor.
We are not accepting clothing or shoes, but basically anything else that's in decent condition. We will help donors unload items.

We are also seeking vendors and non-profits who would like to have a space at our event. Please pass along the flyer to Rotarians, and have folks send an email to this address if they are interested in vending. Also--anyone who wants to come play some guitar or form a drum circle is welcome!

We're hoping for a fun event and to raise a little money, and, as always, generate interest in Rotaract! Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Celebrate Community Project Update

The Norristown Rotary and the Rotary Club of Collegeville met last week to move forward on our 'Take One Share One' book library project.  According to the team ",the structure will be mounted to a post which will be “planted” in the ground. It was suggested at our meeting, that we try to get the property management company to handle the post installation, etc. Our friends from the Kiwanis Club are reaching out to Westover Companies, Inc. (property manager for the Audubon Shopping Center) to arrange for this work."

We are preparing a certificate from proof of liability insurance.

BRIAN HAGUE - ROBERT BARTH - DEVELOPMENTAL ENTERPRISES COTP.

Last week the Club welcomed Brian Hague and Robert Barth from DEC, The Development Enterprises Corp, who detailed the goals and functions of their organization. DEC , founded in 1971, is a non-profit organization that strives to enhances the  abilities of adults with developmental disabilities, to reach their fullest potential, by supplying detailed , personalized training and programs tailored to their individual needs. Their aim is to develop the skills needed to allow the people to function with a degree of independence in our community. The group works on three areas of development: Vocational, increasing useful job skills; Communication skills- enhancing the client's ability to function in society; and teach to them the importance of being a good neighbor, to help others, and become productive.
Brian also spoke on the difficulties the organization such as DEC have in raising the needed funding necessary to carry out theses important functions. They operate mostly off Medicad funding but are always looking for ways to have fund raising events, and explore grants in the future. If you are interested in learning more or donating, check their website--- decmc.org

Thank you Brian and Robert
