NICOLE JAMES, Executive Director of GIRLS FIRST, was our guest speaker last week. Girls First is one of the secondary recipients of funds from our fundraiser and Nicole came to thank us and give us an overview of the work that they are doing in our community. They offer programs outside of the school system that are structured to give girls in grades one through four , an environment to expand their life skills and develop their character . They are unique in using the arts, music, visual arts and many other creative avenues to improve the students learning. They usually work with 30 to 36 girls at a session. Founded in 2009, they are open Monday thru Thursday during the school year and also offer two week sessions in conjunction with Montgomery County Community College during the summer. GIRLS FIRST receives grants from government and corporate organizations and welcomes personal donations as well as volunteering from those who are interested in helping these young girls get a good start in their academic and social life.
Thank you Nicole for informing us on the important work you are doing.

Pancake Breakfast Nearly Ready - THANK YOU SPONSORS
Last minute preparation for this Saturday's event is nearing but there is still much to do.
We wish to thank our sponsors for their kindness, generosity and support without whom, this fundraiser would not be possible.
Our sincere and heartfelt thanks goes out to these heroes of the community:
Also, special thanks goes out to Papetti's Hygrade Eggs, Inc, Valerio's Coffee Roasters and Clemens Food Group for your kindness and generosity supporting this event.
President Sunanda has officially kicked off the 'Each One, Bring One' member campaign.
Rotary Clubs need to continue to grow in order to enhance our ability to dedicate resources to solving a community or global issue.
This year, President Sunanda is asking every Club member to bring a visitor, spouse, family, friend or acquaintance to our meeting and introduce them to Rotary.
If everyone brought a guest it would double our meeting size, and if half of the visitors discovered Rotary and became a member, the club would grow by 50%.
Please think about it this week and identify someone you would like to introduce to Rotary. Bring them to a meeting and tell them why you joined.
Is some of your expected gmail missing from the Inbox?
Aside from regular spam filtering, sometimes Google also takes a guess at your incoming gmail and pre-categorizes it in order to cut down on spam. The Tabs 'Social' and 'Promotions' capture some of your email instead. Well, Google doesn't always get it right.
Fortunately, even though that is the default setting, you can change the setting and control your pre-categorization completely and get all your mail back in the old inbox. YOU can select select the problem email in 'Promotions' and drag it to the inbox, OR.... A more reliable way is to control your own categories or simply have none at all. If you uncheck the 'Social" and 'Promotions' categories in settings, your future email will not appear in those virtual folders but rather in your old inbox as expected.
Here's what you do to fix it. Go to your inbox settings link. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/inbox Uncheck the boxes 'Social' and 'Promotions', AND CLICK SAVE From now on it will appear in the old inbox as expected.
