Please Help the Ronald McDonald House

The Board has decided to ask our members to collect aluminum can zip tabs or 'pop tabs'. These can be found on not only soda cans but all sorts of canned drinks. The local chapter of the Ronald McDonald House still collects them to turn in for recycling and proceeds go to help local families by paying family expenses to stay will their child is in the hospital. Start a jar, they add up. At the end of the year we will accumulate our collections and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House. Please see Vanessa Cossari for more information

Celebrate Community 9 11-17

Celebrate Community 2023

Rotary International and District 7430 have asked clubs to participate in Celebrate Community week Sept 11-17, 2023.

All four organizers are working to gather to plan projects together during this week to help the community.

Our club has begun discussions with a Kiwanis club in the area. President Mary Onama is chairing the initiative and began working with them. If you have ideas and wish to work with Mary please reach out.

Sole Harvest 5k 2023 10-14

Our club will be supporting the Sole Harvest 5k again this year. Turnout last year was good. We had transportation and a loud cheering station out by the water tower, made lots of noise and had a lot of fun. And an opportunity to help the Norristown Hospitality Center as well as our community.

This year we will be displaying our support rally signage and Rotary's commitment to serving our community. Look for an electronic signup link coming soon.

LAST WEEK

Last Thursday, the ROTARY CLUB OF NORRISTOWN honored three scholarship recipients from the Norristown Area School District, each receiving a $2500 award. These students were selected by our Scholarship Committee, working with the school district, and were based on exhibited strengths in the areas of academic excellence and community involvement. We congratulate these students and wish them continued success in their future educational and occupational endeavors.

CHRISTIAN DAVID CARBONE- Plans to attend Villanova with studies in business and finance.

EMMA JOSEPHINE CARPENTER- Plans to attend University of Delaware with courses leading to Veterinary School.

DULCE MARIA VARGAS OCHOA- Heading to Cabrini and is undecided at the moment, but is leaning toward majoring Education or Business

LOGAN HENDRICKS- attending Rochester University
