A LETTER FROM PRESIDENT RUTH

This Thursday's meeting was well-attended, and most of you were able to arrive on time. That's a welcome accomplishment. We were disappointed that there was some mis-communication with our anticipated speaker. We are hoping to reschedule her presentation on Polio Plus. In the meantime, we used the opportunity to cover several items of business, and to remind ourselves of upcoming important events. I'll get to that in a moment.

The District Governor, Katie Farrell, was very pleased with our club after her visit last week. She appreciates our projects, loves our new venue, and enjoyed the camaraderie among us. Let's keep up the good work and make her Norristown proud!

We've had some good communication with the Rotaract Club, which is hoping to be officially chartered by the end of the year. They have been busy, and we are working on a date to have some of them join us for a meeting and give us a report on their activities. Hopefully we will also be able to do some joint projects in the future.

The Little Library joint project with Kiwanis is nearing completion. Thanks to Alan Treisbach the unit has been assembled. Now it's a matter of scheduling the "dig" to settle it in it's appointed location in the Audubon Village Center.

Remember, next week we do not have a noon meeting. We will have 2 "trunks" filled with "Treats" at the Norristown Rec Center on Harding Street that day (set up at 3:00 p.m., action 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.). Your help is appreciated. Bring candy! Note - early arrival is recommended, as parking becomes an issue! This is a fun event and a wonderful opportunity to spread positive Rotary vibes!

Plan ahead for your holiday poinsettias and cyclamen and help the club! Orders will be taken November 11-25 and flowers will be picked up December 2-4. Diane Helm is spearheading this project, and we thank Laurel House for offering space for the pick up.

November is Rotary International Foundation month. We would love to see 100% participation. Thank you, Jim Nutt, for getting the word out to members and encouraging us to support the great work of Rotary around the world.

Alan Treisbach's son will be our guest speaker on November 7th - all the way from Kosovo. Let's come out in full force to welcome him and hear about his fascinating and worthwhile work.

Check your Spoke for many other important dates and projects. The next two months are jam-packed with opportunities to "Change Lives and Save Lives!" Spread the word!

Blessings!
Ruth Hagglund
President

ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH

Dear Rotarian:

November is Rotary Foundation Month.  Our Norristown Club encourages each member to help observe this with a contribution to the Foundation,  We ask you to consider donating $100 (or more if you are so inclined),  so that the Club can get recognition for the “Every Member, Every Year”  effort of RI.

In addition, our Club sponsors a lottery to award a Paul Harris Fellowship to one or more lucky contribution members by pooling at the points given annually by the Foundation to each contributing Rotarian.  The pool is used to draw members’ names and use the pooled points to reach the 1000 level which qualifies the lucky Club member for a Paul Harris Fellowship.  This is fun, and encourages all  of us to participate.  The drawing will be held at a meeting at the conclusion of the campaign.

Please consider writing a check any amount is appreciated) and bring  your check to the weekly meeting at Jeffersonville Golf Club so I can send it to the Foundation with the appropriate contribution form.  If you prefer please send your check to me at my home ( indicated below).  Any questions, please call me for clarification.  Thanks for your generosity, Rotary Spirit, and help.

                                                                                                                                                                                       Jim Nutt, Foundation chairman
