* NEWS
LAST WEEK
FRANK RAUSCHER local wood carving artist

FRANK RAUSCHER local artist

Last Thursday, the Club had a special treat as local wood carver FRANK RAUSCHER, brought a few of his fantastic carvings, mostly of birds. Frank loves to create and has been doing so for about 50 years, with the last 20 years concentrating on carving birds, and has perfected his skills to a award winning status in the wood carving community. He demonstrated some of the equipment involved in carving and described a few of the techniques used in creating his beautiful works. He got into the hobby be seeing a YouTube video, and now has progressed to the point where he is making teaching videos for those wishing to get into carving. He love the teaching aspect of his hobby.
In the past he would participate in 12 shows a year but is cutting back now, preferring the teaching part.
Observe some of his creations below.
Thank you, Frank for sharing your talents with us.

ClubRunner Nova
After 20 years in the industry, ClubRunner has announced their redesigned their Club Management software.  The new version name is 'ClubRunner Nova' and the subscription price will not change to migrate. Note, a lot the change is technology behind the scenes and may be less visible to clubs.

The software platform has been redesigned to use newer technology.  Speed, scalability and performance has always been an issue, so they decided to migrate everyone's data to the secure 'Microsoft Azure' cloud platform.  Rapid 'Cloudflare' technology will handle the DNS traffic routing and sophisticated security and Twilio's SendGrid will replace their current email platform. Internally Azure's Cosmos DB will host club data. This will prove significantly faster than locally hosted SQL databases.  Here is a picture of their new architecture platform. We will see secure Multi-factor Authorization added to the current log in process very soon

Going forward, ClubRunner for Rotaract clubs will be free subscriptions (somewhat trimmed from the standard club package).  All this will reflect significant perfomance increase. Migration is said to be seamless. Regardless our club anticipates the need to back up things like customized email templates etc. All this will allow them to add features easily, allow more individual customization by each club and expand product offerings going forward.  Again, we hear there will be no significant price change to migrate.  Look for this new version to roll out during 2024. Obviously, ultimately migrating will not be an option, we will be testing along the way this year.
